UPDATE: US imposes sanctions on 21 individuals, 9 firms from Russia, Ukraine

WASHINGTON, Jan 26 (PRIME) -- The U.S. has introduced sanctions against 21 individuals from Russia and Ukraine, mainly from self-proclaimed republics of Donetsk and Luhansk, and nine companies over the situation in Ukraine, according to documents seen by PRIME on Friday.

Affiliates of oil and gas company Surgutneftegas, power engineering company Power Machines, and Technopromexport, an affiliate of industrial holding Rostec, were put on the list.

Andrei Cherezov, Russia’s deputy energy minister, and Yevgeny Grabchak, a department director at the ministry, were listed among the sanctioned officials.

The sanctions concerning 12 more companies were clarified.

The U.S. Treasury Department said that Technopromexport, its CEO and Power Machines were included on the list due to a situation with the delivery of power turbines produced by Siemens to Crimea.

Rostec said it laments the inclusion of Technopromexport on the sanctions list: “It is not a new thing for us to live under sanctions. It is too bad that pressure, not dialogue is becoming the main instrument in international relations.”
